“Working in the community has reminded me that I matter”

With Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 celebrating the power of community, we find out how being a member of GoodGym helps to boost wellbeing.

GoodGym is a community of people who get fit by doing good. Members run, walk and cycle to help local community organisations and isolated older people by doing practical tasks. Its members gain a lot too – the motivation to exercise, the opportunity to connect with others and the chance to make a difference.

There are more than 25,000 GoodGymers in the UK and various GoodGym groups across London, including in Brent, Southwark, Hammersmith, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth. In this blog, GoodGym member Robert explains how it has helped him.

Find out more on the GoodGym website or follow @goodgym on social media. If you’d like to support someone who is struggling with their mental health, our quick guides are a good place to start.
